Title sequences

There is a variety of information in a title sequence the standard form that it seems to be is:

The Production & Distribution logo always in the beginning, and the producers, executive producers, director always in the end of the title sequence. The order of names come as a hierarchy, the most important names come before and the least important names come after.

In the title sequence of 'Taking of Pelham 123' first we are introduced to the Production & Distribution company logos which is 'Columbia' and 'Metro-goldwyn-Mayer Pictures'. The purpose of the logo is to make the audience aware of their brand.

The film title is placed about the middle of the title sequence, after the production company logos and after the stars.

We can conclude that the film title usually appears in the beginning of the title sequence soon after the production and distribution company logos. The fonts and the colour used in a title sequence are usually related to the mood of the film. As for example in 'Taking of Pelham 123' the font is bold and capital in a vivid blue which looks electrified it shows that the movie includes a lot of action and it makes it look more exciting. As well as the transitions of the title sequence that the words come across the screen like a train, linking to what is happening in the film and making it look more active and exciting.

The institutional information such as production company and distributions appear a lot of times throughout the title sequence, to emphasise the institution behind the film. They want to emphasise their brand to the audience, so it becomes memorable.
