British Board Of Film Classification

It is important to be concerned about age and audience. As thrillers might involve stronger scenes and it is not usually a family movie, it is needed to think carefully about the guidelines.

12/12A - 12A category exists only for cinema, to ensure that no one younger than 12 will watch a 12A film in the cinema without the presence of their parents.
*Horror: moderate physical and psychological threat is allowed as long as disturbing sequences aren't often.
*Dangerous behaviour (such as hanging, suicide and self-harming) shouldn't be shown in detail or glamorised.
*Moderate language is allowed and the use of strong language shouldn't be frequent.
Violence
*Moderate violence is allowed but shouldn't be shown in detail and preferably occasional.

Moving to an older audience, which still young, but more likely to watch some kinds of thrillers:
15 - *Horror: strong threat is allowed but it shouldn't be sadistic or sexualised.
*Dangerous behaviour shouldn't be shown in detail or in a way that it could be copied.
*Language: use of frequent strong language is allowed.
*Violence can be strong but not extremely disturbing.
