Film Audiences

All films have a target audience for who their film is for. For example; animation films are targeted at mainly young kids and the family. They are also targeted at their audiences through age ratings from the board of film classification.

Uc- This film is suitable for pre-school children.
U- A film suitable for children aged 4 and above
PG- Suitable for children of any age, but parental guidance advised
12A-Can watch the film if your under 12 accompanied with an adult.
12- Have to 12 or over to watch the film
15-Aged 15 or over to watch the film
18 and R18- Only suitable for people 18 and over to watch.

Films knowing what audience they are targeting is very important so that they know how to intrigue them in the film.
Thriller films specify their films at young&old adults, but depend on what sub-genre they fall on. For instance a political thriller may not even be interesting to young adults or targeted at them.
Teens mainly watch cross genre thrillers,e.g horror thriller and action thriller. However it is said that thrillers are generally male skewed.
Thriller films which are much more intellectually demanding are targeted at audiences of ages 25-45.
